To meet the demand of customers, Renesas officially introduces top-level products of M16C family - R32C/100 series CISC (complex instruction set computer) MCUs. As the subsequent products of M32C/80 series in M16C family, R32C/100 series achieves an operating frequency of up to 50MHz and is a 32-bit MCU with a floating point unit and 9 serial interfaces.

The features of R32C/100 series are summarized as follows:

◆ Real operation at 5-Volt:
At the operating voltage of 3.0~5.5V, the operating frequency of R32C/100 series is up to 50MHz, which allows design engineers to simplify external circuit. R32C/100 series of products can also support two different I/O voltages, not only meet the requirements of external 3-volt memories or ASIC/FPGA devices, but also directly provide 5-volt interfaces.

◆ Built-in Floating Point Unit (FPU):
When the R32C is embedded with the FPU, the instruction dedicated for single-precision floating-point (Float) operation can be used to implement high-speed operation processing. R32C/100 series supports single-precision floating-point operation specified by IEEE754 as well as 7 floating-point operating instructions, namely ADDF, CMPF, CNVIF, DIVF, MULF, ROUND and SUBF. The above instructions can process single-precision floating-point (Float) data operation at high speed.

◆ A Wide Selection of Products:
111 Group, 116 Group, 117 Group and 118 Group of R32C/100 series are targeted for industrial and consumer applications and can provide different packages and various combinations of on-chip memories. They are available from 64- to 144-pin packages, while on-chip memories vary from the combination of 128KB Flash and 32KB SRAM to that of 1MB Flash and 63KB SRAM. It can help customers select the product most compatible with their system specifications and shorten the cycle of product migration.

◆ High Integrity:
R32C/100 series can be configured with up to 9 serial interfaces and 2 CANs and provides powerful peripheral functions for industrial applications, including 11-channel 16-bit timers, 3-phase motor control timers, advanced intelligent I/Os, A/D converters, Serial interfaces, Direct Memory Access (DMA) controllers and CAN buses. In addition, on-chip oscillators and wait mode can also reduce power consumption.
